Orange Coast College Prerequisite Clearance Form

Fill out this form to clear an Orange Coast College (OCC) course prerequisite that you have already met at another institution or with Advanced Placement (AP) scores.

Please be aware that submitting this form does not grant you credit for previously completed coursework. To receive credit for courses previously completed, submit official transcripts to the Enrollment Center.

Please note, this form is only for OCC courses - not Coastline College or Golden West College courses. Unofficial copies of transcripts are okay.

College Transcript:

You must have earned a grade of “C” or better in completed coursework from another regionally accredited College/University. We do not take courses in progress. Please make sure the following is visible on your transcript: your name, the name of the College/University, and the semester you took the course(s). The transcript must also be from the original institution where you took the course. Our office cannot use international transcripts for prerequisite clearance. For students with international transcripts, you will need to contact the appropriate Academic Division.

High School Transcript:

High school transcripts can only be used to clear prerequisites for foreign language courses, math courses, and/or for placement into CHEM A180.

For foreign language courses, the following rules apply:

4 semesters of a specific foreign language course with a C or better = eligible to take the A185 level

6 semesters of a specific foreign language course with a C or better = eligible to take the A280 level

8 semesters of a specific foreign language course with a C or better = eligible to take the A285 level

For math courses, please see the Math Placement Rules.

For CHEM A180 placement, students must have completed 1 year (2 semesters) of Chemistry with a B or better (for both semesters).

Advanced Placement (AP) Test Scores:

We only accept AP scores with a 3 or higher. Your AP score report must include your name and scores.
